Ultimate Disney Packing List – It’s Vacation Time!

Ultimate Disney Packing List

It’s here again! It’s time for me to head back home to the Disney Parks in Orlando for the semi annual family trip. As usual, I am so excited to pack up and get ready to go, but before I go, I need to write up a packing list so I don’t leave anything behind.

I would consider myself a bit of a self proclaimed Disney vacation expert at this point. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve visited, but seriously, I have learned so much about what you need and DON’T need when you’re traveling the parks. Believe it or not, your list can be relatively simple! The less you need to carry in the sweltering heat, the absolute better.

Vacation Time! How to Keep Cool on Your Next Disney Park Trip

We’re under a month until my next Disney vacation! I can’t wait, it really is like going home for me! My family spends a near shameful amount of time in the parks (seriously, we love it!) and have learned our fair share of tips and tricks along the way to help you keep cool and hydrated. There is no fun in exhaustion and being sick because you overheated or didn’t think to drink enough water. And it is. so. easy. to do.

Believe it or not, keeping your entire family cool is simple, easy, and CHEAP! All it takes is a little planning ahead of time, which will save you from having to nurse headaches, burnt skin, or worse. We do it every single summer, pretty much without fail.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

This might sound painfully obvious, but it seems to go over the head of so many people who hit the parks year round. Florida is a warm place, with sunny skies and high humidity. You will sweat, and therefore, lose hydration pretty fast. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is not drinking enough water. Another problem is drinking too much soda, juice, coffee, or alcohol. These products don’t hydrate you like water does, and can leave you feeling worse.

Vacation Tip #1 – Skip the Bottled Water!

I know I just said to drink water as much as you can, but hear me out. Bottled water in Disney World is such a huge price gouge, and when you travel with family, one stop for waters can leave you about $20 poorer. One of the best ways to save cash fast is to get free water from quick service restaurants and stands. If you ask nicely, they will give you as many cups of water as you like at no charge. We use this water to pour into our water bottles, or just drink straight from the cups. You will be amazed at how much more water you can get when you aren’t spending money on bottles you are just going to throw away!

Peep that cute cup!

Vacation Tip #2 – Enjoy a Breeze!

The air in Florida is heavy, humid, and usually pretty stagnant. This can leave you feeling pretty gross, because if I had to describe Orlando in a word, I would probably use sticky (ha!). The park has fans you can buy there (at a premium of course) and when buying more than one, again, the cost can add up quickly. One great tip is to order fans ahead of time (like this cutie!) that you can recharge at night, saving money on batteries. I received this one at a discount, but I have to say, its a powerful little fan, without being heavy. Small kids wouldn’t have an issue toting this guy.

Being pink doesn’t hurt either!

Vacation Tip #3 – Dress Light

Once again, Disney is a hot, hot place. The way you dress for the day can make or break it; you should be opting for lighter fabrics that help to wick moisture away from your skin. For me personally, I prefer to wear athletic shorts and tanks, or light dresses with shorts underneath. You can always layer up if it gets chilly after dark, but during the day, you’re going to want to have light layers that don’t weigh you down.

Dress Light
Dressing for the weather doesn’t mean not dressing cute!

You can find the above dress here (I received this dress at a discount as well, but man, its comfy!) and its super affordable! You could easily dress it down or up and it’d be perfect for a Minnie or Mickey Disneybound!! I plan on picking up more colors and bringing them all with me for an easy, comfy, go to outfit. Perfect with the rose gold ears! The material of the dress is smooth and soft, perfect for days where you’re running nonstop!

Pockets!!
Seriously, all dresses need pockets.

Happy Tuesday!
